Do you know the name of your dragon?





We all face giants at some point. 



For David, it was Goliath. For Nadine, it was Muquin. For someone else, it may be debt or a toxic relationship. But they all have the power to trap up.  To keep us captive to fear.  In the series's first book, 

Muquin represents what many of us would cower from. 

Seriously, if I woke up one day and saw my village being burned down, I would look for the first Uber out of here. Yet. Muquin holds a key to a destiny that Nadine never imagined. 

When Nadine was desperate for a way to rescue her family, she took the first steps.   I knew that I wanted to change my life, to catch hold of that dream that I always wanted… to write books that help people find their courage. But fun fiction ones that speak to the hero buried inside you. I love motivational books. But novels allow you to be the hero inside them. To identify with the characters.  I wanted to share my passion for learning and fantasy with others in a way that empowers them. I had to start with the first worlds.

  Who do you rely on? In the last two weeks, I have had to ask myself this very question. Trust is an important part of being human, as is faith. But there are things we can not anticipate that come our way that can shake our world. My daughter’s fiance’s flight was cancelled two hours before he was due to board and I have had several of my support team fall ill. This comes after I had been ill for over two weeks, following a spell of burnout, and then my bank rejected all my incoming Amazon royalty payments because of some change in code. The list is longer than I care to mention in this message, but one could say that I have had a spell of bad luck and I was certainly feeling fragile. If we want to move forward in life, making plans and setting goals is important and misfortunate has a way of challenging the viability of those goals. Toughen Up

 Don’t you hate it when you are full of purpose and passion and then someone comes and crushes your dreams? Over the years, I have had to learn to take feedback. As a writer, my first feedback point is my editor. I have had to mature in this relationship. Sometimes feedback can seem harsh, but then I have to ask myself what the motives are of the person giving me the feedback. I think of all the war movies I watched when the training officer is brutal and then I ask, “Is it better to take feedback from someone who has a vested interest in your success, or get little “kindnesses” from someone who is not impacted by your success or failure?” I know that the more soldiers who die in a battle, the weaker the army will be. So taking feedback from your trainer whose success lies in your success not only makes common sense, it is a survival tool.   Over the years, I have had to learn to toughen up. What are our greatest fears as humans?

Did you know that one of them is extinction? In a hierarchy of fears, extinction forms the base of all of our fears.  When confronted with and pandemic, this fear jumps out above all, and it is a time when people can make practical or dangerous decisions. Another fear is the fear of separation, and this is what happens when we are quarantined.  When governments protect their population, some of these decisions run into our fear of loss of autonomy. When our movements are restricted, this fear shouts out as us, as we cannot travel and feel controlled by our circumstances. These are some feelings I explore in my book series, the Chronicles of Nadine.  When Muquin the last Silver Wing Dragon attacks Nadine’s village, the villagers fear that they will all wiped out.
